What we do

Three ways we work with companies.

  • Advisory & Leadership

    Work inside the business rather than alongside it: market entry and zero-to-one launches with full P&L ownership, go-to-market, recruiting the team, scaling operations and building the risk and regulatory framework a supervised business needs.

  • Venture Capital & Private Equity

    We invest our own capital into private technology companies, from early stage through pre-IPO, held directly or through funds and special purpose vehicles. More than twenty investments since 2013, with board and advisory seats where we can be useful.

  • M&A Advisory

    Buy-side and sell-side mandates run end to end, from due diligence preparation and positioning through to negotiation and close. We have sat on the founder's side of that table: MidFunder's sale to Levenue was negotiated and closed in-house.

Engagements range from a board seat or advisory mandate to a (fractional) operating role as CEO, Managing Director or Country Director, for companies entering a new market or working through an inflection point.

Behind that sit more than twelve years across venture capital, private equity and M&A and the vehicle of a Swiss entrepreneur who has founded, scaled and sold technology companies of his own.

We work with founders and management teams on expansion, growth strategy and M&A. We support portfolio companies through go-to-market, scaling operations and the strategic inflection points in between, from early growth through exit.

Founder-first is not a positioning here. It is the perspective of someone who has built the company, carried the P&L and negotiated the exit.

The person behind PF Ventures

Patrick Frei

Partner

Patrick is a Swiss entrepreneur and investor focused on fast-paced technology companies. Over the past twelve years he has built, backed and advised businesses across AI, fintech, mobility and health, driven by an interest in what modern technology does to old, established industries.

In 2020 he founded MidFunder, a non-dilutive financing platform, raised significant funds, built it into a financial intermediary (SRO) and sold it in 2024 to London-based Levenue. Before that he co-founded Centurium in 2014, an independent investment boutique, where he led venture capital, private equity and M&A mandates.

After successfully closing the MidFunder transaction, in 2024 he joined Bolt as its first employee in Switzerland and built the Swiss market from zero to one with full P&L ownership, taking it to profitability in under three years on a two-digit million GMV. He has been an early-stage investor since 2013, with more than twenty investments and advisory board seats, among them Kinastic, acquired by Aepsy in 2026.
